Introduction
This feature allows users to compress an entire data package from the Yoda Vault into an efficient BagIt zip file, making data sharing and archiving more straightforward.
The "Download as bagit" functionality allows users to consolidate their entire data package into a compressed BagIt zip file, which is useful especially when archiving large datasets. It helps not only to significantly save on storage costs and space, but also to streamline the management process, making it easier to organize and transfer data.
The BagIt standard consists of the original data package including a metadata (index.json) and manifest file that lists the content of the package. The BagIt standard ensures the integrity of the data during the compression process, meaning that the received zip files exactly match the original data packages without any loss of information.
How to use:
- Go to the desired data package in the Yoda Vault.
- Select the data package and click on the "Download as bagit" option in the "Actions" menu. ("Download as bagit" option is not visible in the menu if a "download.zip" already exists)
- Wait while Yoda consolidates and compresses the data.
- Download the resulting zip file, "download.zip," to your local device (refresh the screen if the file is not immediately visible in the vault).
- Once a download.zip file is added to the Vault, you can download this in the usual way by clicking on the button on the right of the download.zip file and selecting 'Download'
