Apply for an ECHO Award nomination - a prize for student talent with a non-Western background in higher education.
Each year, ECHO - Centre for Diversity Policy - invites universities of applied sciences and research universities in the Netherlands to nominate socially engaged students for the ECHO Award.
Eligible students for an ECHO Award are student talents from a non-Western background who stand out because of their academic excellence, leadership skills, active social involvement and constructive approach to challenges related to exclusion. For more information about the criteria and eligibility definition, please see the ECHO website.
All institutionally nominated students automatically become part of the ECHO Ambassadors Network alongside all previously nominated students and young professionals. It is a community for like-minded individuals as well as an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of diversity and inclusion frameworks and skills via the Ambassadors Academy. For more information on the Ambassador Network and Academy, visit the ECHO website.
The winners of the ECHO Awards 2026 will get a unique chance to participate in a fully funded Summer Course at UCLA in the United States (subject to change). The winners are selected by an independent jury chaired by Mrs. Kathleen Ferrier, chair of the Dutch UNESCO Commission.
