In medicine we are working on some of the most sci-fi-esque tools: brain-computer interfaces, deep brain stimulators, robotic arms. Meanwhile, the patients and professionals involved are continuously dealing with human bodily experiences and especially how these ‘strange’ neuro-engineering devices could become part of their bodies. Philosophy has allowed me not only to analyze the theoretical framework for this existential reorientation, but also to formulate practical advices for doctors, scientists and other professionals.
