CIROC is an international centre for information and research on organised crime and the fight against it. The centre was founded in 2001 by the departments of criminology at the Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR), VU Amsterdam (VU), Maastricht University (UM), Utrecht University (UU), and the WODC, the Research and Documentation Centre of the Dutch Ministry of Justice and Security.

As of 1 April 2021, the department of criminology at Erasmus School of Law has taken on the coordinating role at CIROC.

We aim to:

  • Make a leading contribution, both in the Netherlands and internationally, to the exchange of information on current developments and trends in organised crime.
  • In the Netherlands, CIROC seeks to build a bridge between the science of criminology and the practice of investigation, prosecution and trial.
  • At the international level, expand and strengthen professional networks in the area of expertise.
