A community is defined as a supportive social group in which members have a sense of belonging through shared common interests, experiences, and/or goals (1). Community building is done through activities in any given class or study program that promotes a sense of belonging. A sense of belonging is a feeling of being welcome, being able to contribute fully to the group, and shared confidence that all members' needs will be met through a shared commitment to each other.
