Coming from a background in the non-profit sector, I was acutely aware of how complex human-centric issues could be, and I recognized the urgent need to enhance my research skills to navigate these challenges effectively. What struck me initially about GLOCAL was its holistic, multidisciplinary approach to understanding global challenges, combining insights from various fields to provide a comprehensive outlook on the issues at hand.

A truly global understanding 

One of the best parts of GLOCAL has been the diversity within our cohort. Having peers from various backgrounds around the globe has been incredibly inspiring. It has broadened my horizons and encouraged me to approach problems in ways I had never considered before. This melting pot of ideas and cultures has been both a source of inspiration and a valuable learning experience, illustrating the program's strength in fostering a truly global understanding.

Mobility 

The journey through GLOCAL has not been without its challenges, particularly the aspect of mobility. Moving between countries, dealing with housing, visa applications, and acclimating to different academic and cultural environments has been daunting. Yet, these challenges have spurred growth, equipping me with a unique set of skills in global mobility that are invaluable in today's interconnected world. Moreover, the shared experiences of navigating these challenges have forged deep bonds among us. By the end of the first semester, I realized that despite being far from home and continually adapting to new places, the friendships and support network we built meant I was never truly alone.

GLOCAL for me is more than just an academic journey; it has been an adventure that has prepared me for the complexities of the global landscape, enriched by the diversity of its participants and the strength of the community we've built together.
