By treating different topics such as economics, sociology and media, all from the perspective of the world of arts and culture, it becomes less difficult to apply the theoretical material to concrete case studies in reality.

Lotte van den Bergh

“When searching for the right study, I was looking for a study in which I could combine my passion for arts and culture, and my interest in business. For me, studying IBACS was the perfect solution. Everyday I am more convinced that this study was made for me. By treating different topics such as, economics, sociology and media, all from the perspective of the world of arts and culture, it becomes less difficult to apply the theoretical material to concrete case studies in reality. Furthermore, it is a small-scale study, which makes the contact between both students and lecturers really personal and intimate. There is always someone to share difficulties with or who you can ask questions.”

Rotterdam is perfectly suited for arts and culture students

“Rotterdam did not have my preference at first, because I believed it was not suited for students. This was a big misperception, however after a year of living and studying in Rotterdam, I realized that the city offered so much more than just the Erasmusbrug and the Euromast. There are many facilities for students and, especially in Kralingen, the area in which Erasmus University is situated, you see students shopping, cycling and sporting everywhere. Also, there are many cultural institutions located in Rotterdam. It is a popular location for cultural events and happenings. As a consequence, Rotterdam is often used to exemplify certain theories discussed in the IBACS courses, and the city is thus perfectly suited for arts and culture students.”
