BNNVARA!

Where did you do your internship and what was your position?

At BNNVARA! The Dutch public broadcasting company. I was a production assistant for their current affairs late night show: Pauw.

What were your main tasks?

We had students coming in every week to create and film their own late night show in our studio during Pauw Academy, and I was responsible for this project. Besides, I helped the small team of producers with wide-ranging tasks, from getting props to assisting during rehearsals and live recordings.

How did you find this internship?

After an IBCoM workshop from mediastages.nl, I checked out their website and found the vacancy!

What is something you learned during your internship that you will always remember?

That there is a whole lot more to the making of an hour of live television than you would assume. And that a production job definitely lacks a creative process.

Any tips for students looking for internships?

I definitely recommend checking out mediastages.nl. They have a great variety of many internships within the fields of television, radio, marketing, PR, film and more M&C-related areas! Also, send open applications to companies you love, it’s worth a shot.
