Payal Arora has been invited to talk at the EuroScience Open Forum (July 10-14) on a panel that focuses on how big data affects mobility and privacy in the context of autonomous transport systems, while accounting for data quality and pan European standardization. This is part of the COST initiative, an EU-funded programme that enables researchers to set up their interdisciplinary research networks in Europe and beyond.
ESOF (EuroScience Open Forum) is the largest interdisciplinary science meeting in Europe. It is dedicated to scientific research and innovation and offers a unique framework for interaction and debate for scientists, innovators, policy makers, business people and the general public.
Created in 2004 by EuroScience, this biennial European forum brings together over 4000 researchers, educators, business actors, policy makers and journalists from all over the world to discuss breakthroughs in science.
Arora’s talk
The talk of Arora will cover the ethical implications on automating movement across society in public space, considering notions of (de)anonymity, data (dis)aggregation, data fidelity, and other factors that help to consider the future of our transport economy. In the age of smart cities, smart cultures and automating mobility, we are at a critical juncture in policy making where privacy concerns and potential harms confront innovation, demanding a reassessing of their relationship and valuation as we chalk our way forward.
