Pauwke Berkers receives fellowship at EUR Talent Day

Each year, Erasmus University offers fellowships to young, promising researchers who have obtained their doctorates. The EUR Fellowships last 3 years and are awarded to stimulate the researchers to pursue an academic career. Pauwke Berkers was one of the researchers to receive an EUR Fellowship.

The EUR Talent Day is held each year and aims to highlight top researchers of the university. On the 20th of March, the Executive Board presented the past year’s most talented researchers. These researchers were then awarded with funding for their research. With the EUR Fellowship, the university strives to encourage young people to opt for a career in academic research.

Dr Pauke Berkers’ research called “Hearing diversities: how music can bring people together” was awarded the fellowship. Dr Berkers aims to examine the extent to which music serves as a bridge between majorities and immigrant ethnic minorities in two European cities: Rotterdam and Bristol. Constructing musical living rooms, he will invite diverse participants to bring their music with them. By listening, they share their experiences, memories, and feelings.
