Katyn Massacre: it was politically awkward to reveal the truth

In 1940, about 22.000 Polish officers and members of the intelligentsia were murderd by the secret service of the Soviet Union, the NKVD. The Katyn massacre is one of the most well-known examples of the cruelties that took place under the Soviet Union. Now, the Polish president Andrzej Duda wants to bring the massacre to an international criminal court. Iwona Gusc was interviewed for NOS Met Het Oog Op Morgen (NPO Radio 1) en talks more about these developments. Iwona is a historian at the Erasmus School of History, Culture and Communication (ESHCC).
