On Tuesday, March 8, dr. Tonny Krijnen will be a guest speaker at the monthly talkshow Studio Erasmus. With March 8 being International Women's Day, the show invited the best female scholars.
In light of her recently published bookGender and Media, Dr. Krijnen will discuss several matters surrounding gender and mediated communication.
In Gender and Media, dr. Krijnen explores complex questions by offering a critical overview of contemporary debates and discussions. Interesting questions from her book include: Why do some TV genres have the label feminine or masculine? Why do we worry about boys playing video games too much while girls play just as often? Is the TV show Sex and the City empowering or not? Why are recent television shows like Desperate Housewives post-feminist television? The book provides an overview of the current academic research on gender and media.
