Dr. Noemi Mena Montes to give keynote at conference on "Perception of Migration"

Dr. Noemi Mena Montes, lecturer in the Department of Media & Communication, was invited to give a keynote on evidence-based media reporting at a conference on opportunities and challenges in perception of migration. She will be sharing her expertise as a moderator and discussant as well in one of the journalistic panels entitled “Different facets of forced migration”.

The conference takes place in Tbilisi on 28 and 29 March and is part of the EU Research Project for Georgia (ENIGMA), where Dr. Mena Montes contribute as an external adviser on topics related to media and communication.

The conference aims at bringing together Georgian and foreign journalists and media professionals, policymakers, scholars and researchers, to discuss the nexus between media and migration in Georgia, other Eastern Partnership (EaP) countries, as well as the EU. It will focus on best practices in reporting on migration, quality investigative journalism as well as existing challenges, opportunities and perceptions, including possible policy recommendations. These topics will be discussed in a comparative manner by analyzing and assessing practical examples on reporting of migration issues by applying an academic viewpoint.
