Dr. Lavanga recently published an article about design privacy in Fashion Theory, and an article about fashion evolution versus entrenchment in International Journal of Fashion Studies.
The first article discusses the debate about the rampant piracy within the fashion sector and its impact upon fashion businesses. Therefore the study investigates: the risk of piracy; perceptions of the registered and unregistered design rights available to fashion designers, considering the case of U.K.-based emerging fashion designers; and how the risk of piracy and design rights impact fashion designers’ strategies in online and offline environments.
The second article draws inspiration from four sessions titled Trending Now: The Changing Geographies of Fashion in the Digital Age at the Royal Geographical Society and Institute of British Geographers (RGS-IBG) conference in London in 2017. The article itself reflects on old and new fashion capitals, the growing importance of intermediaries, the challenges in fashion retail, and sustainability.
