The Community for Histories of the Future (CHIFT) will be holding the first CHIFTalk in the Rotterdamse Schouwburg. Anyone with an interest in science fiction and the future is welcome to attend on Wednesday, May 20th, 2015. During the event, several scientists of the Erasmus University Rotterdam, author-director Joachim Robbrecht, sci-fi actor Mike Jansen and percussionist and composer Maarten Zaagman will present their visions on the future. Furthermore, the Dutch science fiction movie "Sundays" by Mischa Rozema will be screened.

CHIFT was launched in January of 2015 at Erasmus University Rotterdam. CHIFT aims to stimulate the study and production of science fiction and future-thinking in the Netherlands. The Community is open to anyone who is not afraid to think about the “What if…?”-question, i.e. scientists, artists, designers, politicians and practitioners. The event is hosted by Etienne Augé, senior lecturer at the Media & Communication department of the Erasmus School of History, Culture and Communication and initiator of CHIFT.

About CHIFT
CHIFT is an initiative of dr. Etienne Augé in collaboration with Rotterdam. In the future, the Community for Histories of the Future would like to collaborate with other Dutch universities as well. There are even plans for exchanges to comparable foreign institutions. CHIFT dares policy makers, academics, media and other professionals and students to think further ahead. Dutch media EenVandaagBNR Radiode Volkskrant and the Belgium newspaper De Morgen paid attention to the initiative earlier this year.
