Congratulations to ESHCC’s PhD candidate Britt Swartjes for winning the EGSH PhD Excellence Award for Best Article with her publication entitled “Designing conviviality? How music festival organisers produce spaces of encounter in an urban context”. The award was presented to Britt during the ESGH award ceremony Thursday, 23 march, at HAL4 aan de Maas, which was a great success. Of course, we also want to congratulate all the other award winners!
According to the jury of the EGSH Awards “it was a pleasure reading Britt's article” and they were impressed by how she integrated diverse insights and theories from leisure studies, urban planning and design, and cultural sociology. So, she used a cross-disciplinary approach to investigate the important topic of social mixing in public spaces.
