The ESHCC Research Clusters VISUAL and Research in Digital Humanities, together with Erasmus Sectorplan SSH-Breed, invite all researchers from Erasmus University Rotterdam to participate in the mini-conference Visual Data in a Digital World on 4 December 2024 (14:00-17:00h), in Mandeville T3-10.

Vast amounts of visual data, including images, videos, and content from social media platforms and streaming services, are generated every day. At the same time, archives and museums are increasingly digitising their visual collections. How can we effectively analyse this data? What challenges arise when the volume is too great for manual analysis or when access to digital data is restricted?
In line with the methodological focus of both VISUAL and Research in Digital Humanities, this mini-conference addresses the key question: How do we innovate our methods to analyse (visual) data in the digital age? The event will feature a keynote speaker and a community forum. The speaker will present innovative tools and techniques for researchers to interpret visual data at scale:

Community forum
The event will feature a “Community forum”, where colleagues can showcase their current work using visual or digital data in a short presentation, lasting anywhere between a few minutes or 15 minutes. If you are interested in briefly presenting your work (in progress) or raising an interesting discussion question at the community forum, please express your interest by sending an email to Ofra Klein (klein@eshcc.eur.nl) by 20 November.
