'Vice' tells the story of Dick Cheney (Christian Bale), an unassuming Washington insider, who quietly wielded immense power as Vice President to George W. Bush (Sam Rockwell). In this role, he reshaped the country and the globe in ways that we still feel today.
On 8 March (3pm), Cinerama will exclusively show this movie to the Media & Communication students of Erasmus University Rotterdam for a special price of €7,50.
The movie will be followed by a panel discussion by Media & Communication (IBCoM & Master Media Studies) lecturers dr. Jason Pridmore, dr. Ana Uribe-Sandoval and Rashid Gabdulhakov MA, MAst. This is your chance to learn more about the heated debates over the Bush/Cheney presidency and all the surrounding controversies and doctrines.
Jason Pridmore and his family fled from the US back to Canada after the election of George W. Bush – well, not really ‘fled’ but the Canadian perspective on the Bush presidency and Cheney legacy was quite distinct from discussions in the US. Ana Uribe Sandovalexperienced the Bush years from the other side of the US border, in Mexico. Lastly, originally from Uzbekistan (a country that was instrumental in US’s ‘war on terror’), Rashid Gabdulhakov was a Political Science student in Washington during the presidency of Bush. He will share the two sides of his own perspectives.
