Below is a brief summary of the dissertation:
The heterogeneous nature of psoriatic arthritis renders it a difficult disease to manage uniformly and efficiently in daily practice. This underscores the need for practical clinical solutions and a holistic approach to patient care in which evidence-based tools can be utilized efficiently, as required in daily clinical practice. This dissertation presents a comprehensive framework for optimizing the management of psoriatic arthritis, with a particular focus on the often-overlooked role of psoriasis.
The research emphasizes the importance of evaluating and treating psoriasis, thereby recommending psoriasis remission as a key treatment goal and highlighting the need to assess skin burden. Furthermore, two recently introduced composite disease activity measures are tested as potential new measures to be used in daily practice and clinical, demographic and psychsocial factors associated with non-response to methotrexate are evaluated.
This work provides valuable insights for clinicians seeking to refine their approach to PsA management and improve long-term patient outcomes through evidence-based, multidisciplinary care strategies.
