JL (Jaffer) Najar

Biography

I am an experienced researcher with a demonstrated history of working in the policy making and development research. I hold MBA and Master in Social Work in Community Organisation and Development Practices; and have years of experience of working and collaborating with Government and Non-Government organisations including agencies of United Nations like UN Women, UNODC, ILO, National Human Rights Commissions, INGO etc.

I am skilled in Policy making, Project management, Team leading, Statistical Data Analysis, International Relations, Teaching, Training, fund raising, Community Organizing, and leading cum managing Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs). 

Before joining to ISS, I was leading a national team of researcher for a National Research Study on Human Trafficking in India, which was commissioned by National Human Rights Commission of India and was a collaboration of UN Women, UNODC, ILO, Ministry of Women and Child Developement, National Commission for Women, Tata Trusts,Tata Institute of Social Sciences and allied organisations. I also have contributed in the development of National Law of Human Trafficking in India, which was later passed in lower house of Indian Parliament.  

Presently, I am enagaged with a research project on Human Trafficking, as a part of Vital Cities and Citizen Project of Erasmus University where I focus on the voices of marginalized in the human trafficking discourse of India. My current project is particularly enagaed with migrant sex and construction workers in India. Also, I am part of several social justice and solidarity movements and groups working across the world.
