Biography
I am Assistant Professor of Global Governance at the Department of Public Administration and Sociology from the Erasmus School of Behavioural and Social Sciences of the Erasmus University Rotterdam. My research interests broadly focus on the political economy of crises and crisis-management policies.
Building global resilience to current and future crises (be they climate induced, economic or triggered by social inequalities) implies the design of fair and equitable institutions that not only resist exogenous shocks but give a central role to citizens in the design of crisis preparedness and management policies. Since the start of my academic career, I have aimed at uncovering how such institutions can be designed. My research interests have evolved from an original focus on the role citizens – in intervening and crisis-affected countries – play in the governance of foreign crises to the analysis of how democracies can be made more resilient to domestic crises.
