Jeroen Temperman (department of international and European law) has been appointed by the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) as a member of the Advisory Panel of Experts on Freedom of Religion or Belief for a three-year term
The expert panel, consisting of 12 members drawn from the 57 state parties, monitors national legislation, provides expert opinions and reports on issues related to freedom of religion or belief, and provides guidance to OSCE members states in the form of regional conferences, dialogues, trainings and other initiatives.
About OSCE
The OSCE has a comprehensive approach to security that encompasses politico-military, economic and environmental, and human aspects. It therefore addresses a wide range of security-related concerns, including arms control, confidence- and security-building measures, human rights, national minorities, democratization, policing strategies, counter-terrorism and economic and environmental activities. All 57 participating States enjoy equal status, and decisions are taken by consensus on a politically, but not legally binding basis.
