On Tuesday 15 May, a delegation of eighteen Law Schools from Indonesia paid a visit to Erasmus School of Law. Representatives of both ESL and its guests gave speeches and presentations, and stated their intent to realize a form of friendly cooperation in the future.
The Indonesian delegation was welcomed by vice dean prof. Fabian Amtenbrink in de Senate Room of the university. Prof. Amtenbrink gave a short speech, in which he told his audience about Rotterdam, a city he described as a world-renowned port and a melting pot of cultures and nationalities. He also stipulated ESL’s focus on international and interdisciplinary education and research.
After that, dr. Wouter Verheyen, Program Director of the Master Commercial Law, gave a presentation on the content and backgrounds of this particular Master programme. His address was followed by a speech from dr. Paramita Prananingtyas of Diponegoro University, who spoke on behalf of the Indonesian visitors.
After exchanging several courtesy gifts and a photo opportunity, the representatives of ESL and the Indonesian Law Schools signed the so-called ‘Letters of Intent’. These pertain to the establishment of a friendly cooperation between the different parties. The particulars of this cooperation will be worked out at a later date.
