The minor ‘New Economic Thinking & Social Entrepreneurship’ by DRIFT and Impact Centre Erasmus (ICE) is starting in September again, and we are still looking for transformative entrepreneurs and sustainability start-ups that would like to involve students in solving their challenges. Wanted: transformative entrepreneurs and sustainability start-ups!
Do you run a social enterprise and are you struggling with questions like: How can my business model have transformative impact? What role can my business play in current sustainability challenges? What social value can I create? And how do I position myself as a radical innovator? Then we are looking for you to get involved in our minor ‘New Economic Thinking & Social Entrepreneurship’.
Bringing students, sustainability start-ups and social entrepreneurs together
During this minor, which runs from 1 September 2020 to 6 November 2020, students will work in groups on a challenge that has been brought in by social and/or impact-driven enterprises like yours. The groups of students will help your organization address the sustainability, impact or business-proposition challenges it is facing. The course ends with a pitch event together with all enterprises, during which all groups of students will present their ideas and suggestions to the entrepreneurs, their classmates and the teachers of the minor. From a critical transition perspective, students in different groups will look for a solution to the challenges posed, and apply their (new) knowledge to the social enterprise.

You will hear whether your case is selected. If you are, you will be asked to make a 2-minute video about your social enterprise and your main question to be addressed by the group of students.
By the end of July, the Erasmus University Rotterdam will communicate on whether the course will be organised in person or online, due to the ever-evolving restrictions related to COVID-19.
About the minor
This minor lets Erasmus students from different majors explore new economic futures by critically engaging with academic debates around societal transitions, impact and social entrepreneurship. Students will be encouraged to reflect on the propositions and limitations of alternative economic models and be part of an innovative and collaborative learning environment.
