Introduction

“Creating positive societal impact: the Erasmian way” is central in the strategy of the Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR).

Do you dare to ignite progress towards a positive, human-centred future driven by data and AI? Are you keen to help make data a vehicle for necessary sustainable societal changes? Read on.

The Erasmus Centre for Data Analytics (ECDA) is the flagship centre and central hub at Erasmus University Rotterdam that incorporates data, digitisation, artificial intelligence and immersive tech. We’re looking for a project and event manager to start from November 2024.

As our new project and event manager, you work with the ECDA team as well as internal and external colleagues and academics. You’re responsible for the optimal organisation, performance and quality of several ECDA events, projects and educational programmes.

A glance at your role within ECDA

ECDA’s main goal is to prepare society for a data-driven future that is hands-on and human-centred. To guide society towards a sustainable world, AI and algorithms are increasingly used in various areas of our daily lives and therefore have vast potential to create social impact.

In your role, you bring together academic experts, organisation leaders, public and private partners, and students. The goal is to help them to engage in world-class education and research and to circulate meaningful know-how, data analytics, sharing and visualisation tools, and to help them to build a relevant network of society and business partners.

As part of ECDA, you help us to integrate diverse stakeholders via the Erasmus Data Collaboratory, a physical space where we can stimulate people to meet, further collaborate, experiment and innovate. Through ECDA programmes and events, you do your part to increase data and AI literacy and readiness in public, business and academic domains and in society as a whole.

ECDA in a nutshell

  • Facilitates hands-on education and training to executives, academics and students
  • Organises exclusive events, challenges, workshops, seminars and summits
  • Offers an energetic and diverse learning community that includes stakeholders from public and private organisations, academia and students
  • Facilitates multi-disciplinary research and innovation based on over 25 expert practices (all part of ECDA) on data analytics, digitalisation and AI
  • Offers infrastructure for data, analytics, AI and immersive tech in collaboration with technology partners
  • Offers one physical hub – the Erasmus Data Collaboratory, including the Immersive Xperience lab – where the community can come together.

Job description

Your main tasks include the following:

  • Organise ECDA events and programmes – e.g., Leadership challenges with data analytics and Leadership challenges with data analytics in higher education – for diverse internal (EUR) and external target groups.
  • Coordinate smooth collaborations with partners for events and projects in EUR, the Convergence of universities, and external parties.
  • Advise on the event portfolio and formats in consideration of the diverse target groups: professionals, academics and students.
  • Coordinate diverse ECDA innovation projects and assist in securing deliverables.
  • Ensure that events and projects reach their goals and adhere to the budget by monitoring the activities.
  • Attend meetings and provide updates about the ongoing events and projects.
  • Supervise event student assistants, in consultation with colleagues.
  • Participate in the projects and working groups in ECDA.
  • As needed, support events and projects by using data-driven dashboards.
  • Periodically evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of ECDA activities based on evidence and management information and optimise your evaluations with colleagues.
  • Develop processes that contribute to the quality of ECDA services and deliverables.
