Storytelling

What

Storytelling is creating an inspiring, activating story around the solution.

Why

Stories have been used throughout human history to create shared understanding and movement. Creating a story around a solution helps bring people on board for its implementation.

How

  1. Decide on the story’s protagonist; for example, the target group.
  2. Formulate the story’s main elements: the ‘why’, the ‘how’ and the ‘what’. The ‘what’ is clear: this is the solution. But why does this solution exist in the first place? Which problem does it seek to address? Which value does it seek to create? And how does the solution create this value?
  3. Think of a plot for the story. Common plots include ‘rags to riches', a quest, a journey to the unknown and a rebirth.
  4. Create your story using the following principles: simple, unexpected, concrete, believable and emotional.
  5. Decide on the format of your story: is it a presentation, a pitch, a video or something else?
  6. Use the chosen format for your story.
